7.8 quake hits off the coast of Fiji

FIJI (KTVU) - According to the USGS, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit off the coast of Fiji around 8:49 a.m. Pacific Time. 

The earthquake was initially reported as a magnitude 8.1, but later downgraded. 

The quake was 71 miles from Suva, Fiji.

The impacted countries are Fiji and Tonga. 

At this point additional details have not been released.
