The NYPD says a 20 year-old man was shot in the stomach and a 16-year-old was taken into custody after attempting to rob a detective at gunpoint. The detective was with two other detectives from the 88th Precinct investigating a Craigslist scam in Brooklyn when three suspects approached demanding money.
The three detectives were investigating a scam in the area of Monroe St. and Bedford Ave. in which unsuspecting victims follow ads on the popular listing site for rental apartments and then get robbed.
Police opened fire and a suspect was shot in the stomach. The wounded man was transported to Kings County Hospital.
He is in stable condition.
A 16-year-old suspect was taken into custody while police are still looking for the other suspect.
