3 good Samaritans hailed for NYC subway rescue

NEW YORK (AP) — Three good Samaritans are winning praise for jumping onto New York City subway tracks to rescue a man who had fallen.  Friday's rescue at the City Hall station in lower Manhattan happened minutes before a train arrived.

A man fell onto the tracks and the three bystanders quickly jumped down to pull him up.  Video shot by another bystander shows the three rescuers lifting the man up onto the platform. The three then hoisted themselves back onto the platform.

An R train arrived two minutes later.  A Fire Department spokesman says the unconscious man was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
