2 bodies found in burning car at Long Island mall

Authorities on Long Island say they've launched a homicide investigation after two bodies were found inside a burning car in a mall parking lot.

Nassau County Police Department detectives say patrol officers responded shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday to a report of a car on fire in the parking garage at the Sears store in the Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream.

After putting out the fire the officers found a person dead inside the vehicle.  Hours later, they realized that there were actually two bodies in the car.  Police said that one victim was a male and the other a female.

No other information has been released but police said the investigation is ongoing.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. They say that all calls will remain confidential.
