2 arrested in fatal assault at NYC bar

NEW YORK (AP) — Two men are facing manslaughter and gang assault charges in connection to the beating death of a man at a Queens restaurant.

Authorities had gone to Johnny's Restaurant & Bar in Ozone Park at 1:15 a.m. Saturday. They found 43-year-old Elsworth Reid unconscious, with severe trauma to his body. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

His wife told the Daily News that Reid was a bouncer at the restaurant. She said witnesses told her he had been trying to break up a fight when he was knocked down by a punch to the head.

A 31-year-old man and a 48-year-old man, both from Queens, were arrested.
