14-year-old robbery suspect caught trying to flee to Belize

Federal agents busted a teenager on robbery charges in front of his parents at the airport as the prepared to leave the country.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport arrested the 14-year-old, who is a U.S. citizen, on an outstanding warrant for two counts of felony robbery.  

It happened last Thursday when Border Protection agents matched the boy to an outstanding warrant out of Fairfax County, Virginia.  

When the family tried to board the plane the officers intercepted the teen and escorted him to the CBP inspection area, where they positively identified him as the person in the warrant.

Officers arrested the boy and turned him over to the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport Police.  He was awaiting extradition to Virginia.  

The federal agency says is arrests an average of 21 wanted people a day at land, sea, and air ports across the United States.
