Why do NYC ambulances take 4 minutes longer to respond now?
FDNY EMS response times are roughly four minutes slower than they were a decade ago, leaving New York City's emergency system in crisis. In a heated City Council oversight hearing, officials clashed over rising medical calls, widespread hospital closures since 2003, and severe staffing shortages caused by low wages that leave some EMTs living in shelters or cars.
