Who is Jared Kushner?

When President-elect Donald Trump traveled to the White House last week, his son-in-law Jared Kushner was among the small group of advisors who made the trip.

When Japan Prime Minister Shinzō Abe visited Trump Tower Thursday, Ivanka Trump and Kushner also attended the meeting, a photograph shows.

FOX News anchor Chris Wallace said the president-elect and his daughter's husband have a close relationship.

The two have plenty in common besides family ties. Like his father-in-law, Kushner is well known in New York City real estate circles. Kushner corporations have numbers holdings in the city. The real estate empire is worth billions. Many of the investors involved with the Kushner company are based in the United States.

Kushner married Ivanka Trump in 2009. Just like Trump, Kushner got his own start through his father, Charlie Kushner, who is tied to the campaign but not for reasons you might think. Chris Christie, a Trump ally, prosecuted Charlie Kushner and put him in prison.

Multiple reports indicate the younger Kushner may have been behind the recent purge of Christie from the Trump team following the Bridgegate verdicts

Moving forward, Kushner is said to be in the running for a White House job raising ethical concerns for multiple reasons. Nepotism laws created after John F. Kennedy appointed brother Bobby as attorney general could forbid Kushner from taking a position on the paid staff, but there could be a way around it.
