Virtual reality is making a splash. Tom's Guide writer Sherri Smith, who has been exploring virtual reality for over two years, recommends these four.

So far the HTC Vive is her favorite and she let me take it for a spin. This one is really fun though because you can use your body to play the game. As immersive as it is, the Vive requires a lot of extra space that New Yorkers may not have. The HTC Vive costs $799.

The Oculus Rift is the headset we've heard the most about, Sherri says. It is a seated experience. It costs $599, comes with a sensor, and you plug it into your PC.

Samsung's Gear VR is enticing to the brand's mobile customers. The Gear VR is only $99 with older Samsung models and ships for free with the S7.

The PlayStation VR will likely do well because it has a built-in audience with gamers who own a PS4. It is $399.
