Tappan Zee Bridge reopens after 4 hour closure

All lanes of the Tappan Zee Bridge reopened Friday afternoon, nearly four hours after its closure.

The bridge which connects Rockland and Westchester counties was shut down at about 9 a.m. when a truck overturned in the northbound lanes forcing the closure of the span over the Hudson River in both directions.

By 9:30 a.m., two lanes on the southbound span had reopened but the northbound lanes were closed until about 1:15 p.m.

There were no reports of injuries.

Photos from the scene posted to Twitter by Rockland Fires appeared to show the truck carrying some type of metal and debris.

Traffic remained backed-up for several miles, clogging local roads.
