Student accused of punching 2 teachers over cellphone use
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a Syracuse high school student punched two teachers after he was asked to stop using his cellphone during class.
The Post-Standard reports the student came late to Henninger High School just after 8 a.m. Wednesday and then used his cellphone during class.
Police say a 37-year-old teacher asked him to stop using his phone but he punched her in the mouth and then punched a 57-year-old assistant teacher who tried to intervene.
The boy was charged with two counts of assault.
Both teachers complained of severe pain in their mouth and jaws from the incident.
