NEW YORK - Con Edison crews and emergency personnel responded to a steam leak on the East Side Tuesday.
The leak along 1st Avenue near 34th Street forced the closure of a stretch of the avenue at the height of the morning commute.
Con Ed said the 'valve failure' sent smoke into the air.
There were no reported injuries.
Traffic was flowing again with residual delays about two hours later.
