Serta Simmons behind Tomorrow Sleep

Tomorrow Sleep isn’t the first company to put a mattress in a box, but they are definitely different.

The NYC-based brand launched last month and is one-part startup and one-part legacy.

Tomorrow Sleep President Bryan Murphy says they’re putting a premium mattress in a box, shipping it direct to the consumer, but they’re also backed by 100 years of manufacturing and sleep expertise through Serta Simmons Bedding, the biggest bedding manufacturer in North America.

Serta Simmons decided they had two choices: leverage their 39 manufacturing plants to get in on the direct to consumer game or get left behind.

So two years ago they started working on a sleep system.

Bryan says they gave their sleep scientists and engineers a blank piece of paper and asked them what they could come up with to give customers the best possible sleep.

They developed two mattresses, a medium soft and a medium firm.

A queen-sized costs $990.

Bryan says the mattresses are a hybrid solution.

There’s a premium memory foam top integrated with a coil system on the bottom to provide support.

Temperature regulating material is infused into the foam, and there are ventilated side rails to help the bed breathe.

They’ve also created a line of products including everything from black out drapes to comforters and sheets.

The sheets are 500 thread count combed American grown supima cotton.

The comforter is all season and lightweight.

And there are two types of pillows.

Bryan’s favorite is a memorelle filled material that’s like a memory foam fiber so it’s supportive and squishy, yet sleeps cool.

There’s also a sleep tracker that costs $149 for one person, $199 for two.

Bryan describes it as a piezoelectric sensor that goes underneath the mattress and picks up your heart rate, respiration rate, and motion state.

Tomorrow Sleep believes it will help un lock all the benefits of quality shuteye.

Bryan says you can’t perform to your full potential without a good night’s sleep, calling it the secret weapon that professional and Olympic athletes have known about for years.

Tomorrow Sleep mattresses come with a 10-year warranty and a 100-day satisfaction guarantee.
