Robot shop in Brooklyn

Sparki the starter robot is one of dozens of high-tech gizmos and gadgets for sale at new Williamsburg pop-up store Geek Forest. While the idea of a robot store may conjure up visions of the things you see in the Jetsons, Geek Forest trades in smaller robots and electronics components geared at teaching people the science behind them.

Husband and wife team Ricky and Carmen Sutton -- who also make up the punk rock duo X27 -- got the idea to open the shop after their kids expressed interest in robotics and computer science. They've just stared after school programs for budding elementary school engineers and are also offering workshops for adults.

The pop-up shop will only be on South 3rd Street until May 15. Then they hope to move to a permanent location in the neighborhood.
