Protester in dramatic photo is nurse from New York

Police officers dressed in riot gear grabbed a woman protesting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after she refused to leave the road in front of the city's police headquarters on Saturday.

That dramatic moment was captured by a photographer.

The image of Ieshia Evans, 35, a nurse and mother from New York has gone viral.

Evans had reportedly flown down to Louisiana after the shooting death Alton Sterling outside a convenience store by two police officers.

According to the Daily Mail, it was the first protest Evans had ever taken part in.

"Evans found their actions unjust, as the protest was peaceful, so crossed her arms and stared them down," reported DailyMail.com.

A friend of Evans told the website that the mother of a five-year-old boy was worried for her son and wanted to make a better future for him.

Evans was arrested Saturday after the incident caught on camera.

She was released Sunday and is reportedly staying at a hotel in Louisiana recovering from her ordeal.
