Police: Man jumped from police headquarters in Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a man who was in custody in Buffalo jumped from a third-floor window at police headquarters.

It happened just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Chief of Detectives Dennis Richards tells the man was being questioned when he tried to escape. He says he pushed out a window and fell about 30 feet onto the sidewalk below.

He was taken to Erie County Medical Center under police guard with injuries that aren't life-threatening.
