'Hamburglar' steals McDonald's workers credit cards, buys meal

The NYPD is searching for a man they say stole the credit card of a McDonald’s employee and used it to buy food there.

In a real-life "Hamburglar" caper, the NYPD is searching for a man they say stole the credit card of a Manhattan McDonald’s employee and used it to buy food there.

Police say it happened just before 11 a.m. on October 14.  The man entered the fast-food restaurant on Avenue of the Americas near Union Square, through the basement. Once inside, they say he stole several wallets from an employee break room and then bought food from the restaurant using one of the stolen cards.

The NYPD released security camera photos of the man.  They show him wearing a "I (heart) New York" t-shirt. He was still at large on Sunday.

"The Hamburglar" was a character once used in McDonald’s commercials.
