Missing Vermont hunter found dead

ELLENBURG CENTER, N.Y. (AP) — A Vermont man missing since last week has been found dead in a hunting region of upstate New York.

The NBC affiliate that covers Ellenburg Center reports that the body of Ira Munn Boardman was discovered on Sunday morning about a mile from his hunting camp about 30 miles northwest of Plattsburgh.

Boardman, 58, of South Hero, Vermont, had been missing since Nov. 19. Hundreds of mostly volunteer searchers combed about 1,000 acres of mostly wooded property.

New York state police are investigating the death, but do not think there was any foul play.

The cause of death was not known. An autopsy is being conducted.
