Man loses nearly all fingers in Bronx machete attack

A man was attacked by another man with a machete in the Bronx overnight Saturday, according to police.

Police say the 34-year-old was struck in the hand by an unknown individual near 2001 Southern Boulevard.

The man sustained four severed fingers on his left hand before the attacker fled the scene.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

It's unclear what led to the incident and the investigation remains ongoing. 

Police say the attacker is believed to be around 40 to 50 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, and was wearing a tan bucket hat, gray hooded sweatshirt, green vest, and tan boots.
