One of the victims who was shot during a failed assassination attempt on President Donald Trump in 2024, has died, according to several reports.

James Copenhaver, who also went by Jim, reportedly died due complications from the injuries he sustained in the shooting.

News of Copenhaver’s death was also shared on X by House Republicans on Thursday.
Ken Silva, a journalist who wrote a book about the assassination attempt, wrote on his website that a person close to Copenhaver's family also confirmed Copenhaver had died and had been dealing with permanent injuries, including bullet fragments still lodged in his body.
A lawsuit Copenhaver filed against the United States earlier this year alleged he was also required to undergo multiple surgeries.

During a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024, Trump was the target of an assassination attempt.
The incident happened just days before he was to accept the Republican nomination for a third time.
Trump’s ear was grazed by the bullet and several attendees suffered gunshot wounds, with one dying at the scene.
Copenhaver and Corey Comperatore have died as a result of the shooting. David Dutch is the lone survivor.
