Hunter Mountain ski resort sold

HUNTER, N.Y. (AP) -- An upstate New York ski area is being sold for $36.8 million to a Missouri resort company.
The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports Peak Resorts said Monday it has an agreement to buy the family-owned Hunter Mountain ski resort in the northern Catskill Mountains. The sale is set to be completed by Christmas.

The Greene County resort has been owned by the Slutzky family since the late 1950s.

Timothy Boyd, president and CEO of Peak Resorts, says Hunter Mountain has become one of the most iconic ski resorts in the area with its reputation for making great snow.

Boyd says the company eventually wants to pair up Hunter Mountain with its operations at Mount Snow in Vermont.

Peak Resorts operates 13 ski resorts across the country.
