EMT attacked by suspect who was being treated in ambulance
NEW YORK (AP) — Authorities say an emergency medical technician treating someone in an ambulance ended up needing medical care himself after the restrained suspect broke free and attacked him.
The Daily News reports the EMT was treating a 32-year-old man in the Bronx on Friday night when the man got loose, bit him on the shoulder and knocked him down.
A police officer subdued the man, who faces charges including assault in connection to the attack.
The EMT was hospitalized for his injuries, and officials say he will out of work for months. Authorities say he is a recent graduate from the academy.
