#Beautyoverbullying: Fighting back against cybertrolls
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - Stacy Pierre-Louis is more than capable of doing her own makeup. But for her 23rd birthday last month she wanted to feel extra special so she got it professionally done. When makeup artist Theresa Francine posted the before and after pictures to social media, as she always does, it quickly went viral.
Within two days the picture had over 129,000 likes and more than 16,000 comments. At first they recognized Theresa's talents -- and then became very hurtful.
The one thing Stacy says she could control was the way she reacted. She posted a video to YouTube calling out people who hid behind a computer and said hurtful things. She always wanted to let other victims of cyberbullying know they're not alone.
Stacy is encouraging girls to be confident with or without makeup inviting them to take a selfie to post to social media using the #beautyoverbullying.
People have posted over 100 photos with the hashtag on Instagram including Theresa who supports her campaign - proving there are so many more important things than social media.
