Four dozen canines competed in Monday's race all vying for the title of top dog.

"We were doing wiener dog races for a while and it's popular with families and kids," VP of Marketing John Groen said. "We wanted to appeal to people who may not come out to the track for another reason."

All bets are off once the bulldogs are off and running. This year's top dog was Frank the Tank, who won in a photo finish. Frank got a trophy, $50, and a T-bone steak for dinner from his owners.

"I knew he was fast. But I didn't realize how fast he actually was," Tricia Olson, Frank's owner, said. "Can't wait to defend our title next year."
