New video shows 2 suspects wanted for stabbing of off-duty NYPD detective

An off-duty NYPD detective is recovering after being stabbed seven times and robbed of his chain during a violent encounter in the Bronx. Police say they're searching for two suspects.

A 33-year-old man who was stabbed and robbed of his chain by two people on a motorized bike in the Bronx on Friday afternoon has been identified as an off-duty NYPD detective.

What we know:

The attack happened around 1:45 p.m. near East 206th Street and Rochambeau Avenue in the Norwood section.

According to the NYPD, the two suspects approached the off-duty detective on a motorized e-bike, stabbed and slashed him seven times, and forcibly took a chain from his neck. The pair then rode away heading south on Rochambeau Avenue, police said.

Emergency crews transported the detective to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he remains in stable condition. Police have since released images of the two people they are seeking in connection with the robbery.

What they're saying:

The Detectives' Endowment Association (DEA) released a statement Friday evening standing by the recovering officer and issuing a stern warning to his attackers.

"As our brother detective recovers from injuries sustained during an off-duty robbery in the Bronx, the DEA stands firmly by his side," DEA President Scott Munro said. "The perpetrators may think they got away, but they didn't count on the full force of NYPD detectives searching for them. There's nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. This union will not stop until those responsible are held accountable — for our brother in blue and all New Yorkers."
