19-year-old Ft. Drum soldier dies in Afghanistan

A Fort Drum soldier died while on a tour of duty in Afghanistan.

The 10th Mountain Division says that Private First Class Joshua Mikeasky, 19, died in a non-combat related incident on Dec. 13. The Army says the incident is under investigation.

Pfc. Mikeasky was a native of Johnstown, Pa. He served as a health care specialist assigned to 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division.

He joined the Army in September 2017 and following Basic Combat Training, and Advanced Individual Training, he was assigned to 10th Mountain Division. 

Pfc. Mikeasky's awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, the NATO Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.

He is survived by his mother and father.
