With deaths on the rise, especially in the Bronx, the NYPD launched the drug overdose squad around a new first responder concept: aggressive investigations and prosecutions of dealers with outreach support for users, who may be witnesses.

Like the drug epidemic, the caseload for the drug overdose squad is on the rise. But these dedicated detectives are committed to making a difference any way they can.

Fox 5's Lisa Evers spent some time with Lt. Anthony Henry, Sgt. Joseph Burckhard, Det. Lee Arroyo, Det. Javier Aponte, and others from the squad.
