'The Wolves' returns for limited run

NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - With minutes to go before the game, the Wolves begin their warm up. They're a team of 16-year-old soccer players in suburban America carved from the imagination of playwright Sarah DeLappe

"The Wolves" received widespread praise during its first run earlier this fall off-Broadway. And now with an investment from theater producers Scott Rudin and Eli Bush, the groundbreaking all female production is back at the Duke Theater through December 24.

As the director, Lila Neugebauer choreographs the physical language. A former varsity captain, Lila doubled as a coach during the rigorous rehearsal process.

Midoris Francis wears jersey No. 8 in the show, one of nine nameless yet characters who not only move with like athletes, but speak at high-speed, often talking over one another as teenagers do.

They chat about topics that feel close to home, like menstrual cycles, and far-reaching ideas, offering an adolescent perspective on nationalism.

While major events take place offstage, these are the lasting memories that shape the players identities as American women and as a team.
