SCPD: Man threatened to kill GOP campaign worker

NEW YORK (FOX5NY.COM) - A Long Island man is accused of threatening to kill a campaign worker for a Republican congressman and other supporters of the lawmaker and President Trump.

Cops in Suffolk County arrested Martin Astrof, 75, outside his home in Nesconset on Friday morning.

He had just left the campaign headquarters of Rep. Lee Zeldin, where he "became irate with a campaign worker" and threatened to kill him and other GOP supporters, police said.

Astrof drove his car in reverse "in an aggressive manner" and almost hit the campaign worker, police said. He then drove home, where cops busted him.

Authorities charged Astrof with making a terroristic threat, a felony, and second-degree reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor.

Police are holding him overnight at the Fourth Precinct. He is set to be arraigned on Saturday.
