Reporter rescues driver from floodwaters

A Houston TV reporter helped rescue a man whose car sunk in a water covered road after major flooding on Monday morning.

Reporter Steve Campion with KTRK was reporting on the flooding when a car with a man inside floated by.

"Oh, my God.  What do we do," Campion first said.

The man opened the door to his Honda hatchback and Campion yelled at the man to get out of the car.  The man seemed unsure and Campion yelled that he needed to swim away from the car.

The man started to swim and Campion headed into the water to pull him to safety.

"I thought it was just a puddle. I thought how am I going to get out of here when I opened the door.  And you were kind enough to say swim and that's what I did," the man said.

The car sank moments after the man swam away.  So far, there were no reports of serious injuries from the flooding.
