NY rated worst place to retire

A new survey ranks New York as dead last among all of the states as a place to retire.  It ranked worst for taxes and third for worst for cost of living.

The list was put together by Bankrate using a list of topics, including cost of living, crime rate, health care quality, tax burden and weather.  New York did rate fairly well for crime rate but was also dragged down by low heath care and community well-being scores.

The state's neighbors did not fair well either.  Connecticut was 42nd on the list and New Jersey came in at number 40.

Topping the list for 2016 was Wyoming with very low taxes, low crime and high community well-being ratings.  South Dakota and Colorado rounded out the top three.

Bankrate says that 60% of people want to move when they hit retirement.
