Martin Shkreli jailed for Clinton hair bounty

A judge has revoked bail for so-called Pharma Bro Martin Shkreli and ordered him to jail ahead of his sentencing on securities fraud conviction.

Judge Kiyo Matsumoto remanded Shkreli into custody for offering $5,000 to anyone who could get a lock of hair from Hillary Clinton's head while she is on a book tour.

Shkreli's lawyers argued their client was joking and that his offer to pay a bounty for a hair with a follicle was "political satire or strained humor."

The judge did not see it that way. Matsumoto said any reasonable person would assume Shkreli's request might be a threat of violence. The judge asked Shkreli to take down the Facebook post but the former pharmaceuticals company CEO refused.

Shkreli is set to be sentenced on January 16, 2018.
