Man stabs worker over two bars of soap

Police in New York City are on the hunt for a man who stabbed a 99-cent store worker over two bars of soap.

It happened about 8 p.m. on June 28, at 99 Cent Lots on New Lots Avenue.

The man placed two bars of soap inside of a plastic bag and attempted to leave the store without paying for them. When the three store employees confronted him about the theft, the man took out a screwdriver and stabbed one of the employees.  The 51-year-old man suffered a wound to his left arm in the attack.  He was treated at Brookdale Hospital.

The suspect ran away on foot eastbound on New Lots Avenue.  He is described as black, 30 to 40 years old; last seen wearing a red baseball cap, a black hooded sweater, dark colored jeans and he had on a blue backpack.
