Police: Man, 94, fires gun inside assisted-living facility

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Police in Buffalo say a 94-year-old man has fired a shot from a handgun inside an assisted-living facility after refusing to go to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

Officials say the resident of the Mary Agnes Manor told employees he was armed when two paramedics arrived Wednesday morning to take him to Erie County Medical Center.

Police say the man pulled a .38-caliber revolver from the pocket of his walker and fired once before being disarmed by one of the paramedics. The bullet lodged in a wall near where a maintenance worker was standing.

No one was injured.  Police say the man was taken to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
