NYPD: Man hacks woman to death with machete

NEW YORK (AP) — The NYPD has arrested a suspect on charges of killing his next-door-neighbor in the hallway of their Bronx apartment building.

Police say Angel Feliz faces charges of murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.

It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney who could comment on the charges.

Officers were called to the building on 141st Street in Mott Haven Sunday afternoon where they found 59-year-old Carmen Torres-Gonzalez with "numerous lacerations to her body."

They say the apparently unprovoked attack occurred in the hallway outside their fifth-floor apartments.

Police say the 26-year-old suspect allegedly came out of his apartment and attacked the woman with a machete. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A machete was recovered.
