Lucky MetroCard could win commuter trip to Hawaii

MetroCard users can trade Manhattan for Maui (or other Hawaiian cities) in a new giveaway.

The Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau launched a giveaway on Tuesday that will bring one lucky winner and a guest from New York to one of the Hawaiian islands.

From Apr. 23- Apr. 30, eight participating MetroCard vending machines will be loaded with 250,000 blue, Hawaii-branded MetroCards.

The person who buys one of the refillable cards should go to www.Hawaii.NYC and enter the serial number on the card. The card will then be entered into the giveaway.

The drawing takes place on May 8.

"We thought the MetroCard was unique... we thought it was a fun way to connect," said Jay Talwar, chief marketing officer of HVCB.

The MTA would not comment on the contest. It's the first time the agency has participated in a giveaway of this kind.
