Cops rescue 4 people from burning car following crash

CLIFTON, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say police officers pulled four people from a burning car that struck three boulders before it crashed in a wooded area of Clifton.

But it's not yet known what caused the single-vehicle crash, which occurred around 3 a.m. Saturday.

The car was southbound on Kuller Road when it left the roadway near a bend and struck the boulders. The vehicle then hurtled through the air and crashed into the woods.

Officers arrived on scene minutes later and found the vehicle engulfed in flames.

The people trapped inside couldn't get out due to their injuries. But the officers were soon able to free them.

Authorities say one person was being treated for severe burns. But details on the injuries suffered by the three other occupants were not disclosed.
