Man fatally stabs ex-wife's new girlfriend, cops say

NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a man has been arrested on a murder charge and is accused of fatally stabbing his ex-wife's new girlfriend at her home in Brooklyn.

The New York Police Department says Alwasi Tyson was arrested Saturday on murder, weapons possession and other charges.

They say Tyson confronted 22-year-old Toni Cox at her apartment building in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens neighborhood of Brooklyn. They say he was angry that his ex-wife began dating Cox.

It wasn't immediately clear Saturday if Tyson had an attorney who could comment on the allegations.

The building where the stabbing occurred is sometimes used to house homeless families. The city pays the building's landlord to shelter homeless families alongside regular tenants.
