Leak from fuel pipeline for JFK, LaGuardia airports
NEW YORK (AP) -- New York City firefighters found a leak in a pipeline that delivers fuel to New York's LaGuardia and John F. Kennedy airports, but say it has been isolated and the pipeline has been shut down.
Fire crews initially received a call reporting an odor of gas near the Buckeye Pipeline in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn Thursday evening.
A fire department spokesman said firefighters went to investigate and then found a leak in the pipeline, which also delivers fuel to terminals in New York City and Long Island. He said the leak was isolated and the pipeline was shut down.
A spokesman for Buckeye Partners, L.P., which operates the pipeline, did not immediately return a call or email seeking comment.
