Fire rips through Bronx buildings

Firefighters in New York were battling a big fire in the Fordham section of the Bronx on Tuesday morning.

The flames broke out in a series of stores on E. 194th St. near Marion Ave. around 5:30 in the morning.  The fire went to five alarms as 250 firefighters struggled to control the flames.

Firefighters were only battling the flames from the outside of the building due to the conditions.  Parts of the roof had collapsed into the building.  It contained a laundromat, pizza shop, pharmacy and barbershops.

Rescue crews were not able to go in to conduct any searches inside the building.

It was unclear which business was the initial spot where the fire started.  No injuries had initially been reported.
