De Blasio security officer shot with pellet gun

A 19-year-old has been arrested in connection with the pellet gun shooting of a member of Mayor Bill de Blasio's security detail.

Michael Veritsky was charged Monday with assault on an officer with a deadly weapon.

Police were also questioning a female.

Veritsky reportedly admitted to shooting out of the window of his posh 10th-floor apartment on East End Ave., reported the NY Daily News.

It happened at Gracie Mansion, the mayor's official residence in Manhattan, around 7:15 p.m. Sunday.

A police spokesman says the officer was exiting an unmarked police vehicle when she "felt pain in the lower back."

Investigators believe she was shot with a pellet gun. She was taken to the hospital for treatment and released.

Police say the mayor was not home at the time.

Police say several windows in the neighborhood also have been damaged by pellet gun fire recently.
