The Dalmore L'Anima, one-of-a-kind whisky, going up for auction

It's called L'Anima, Italian for "the soul." The whisky from The Dalmore, aged 49 years, is a collaboration between Dalmore master distiller Richard Paterson and world-renowned chef Massimo Bottura of Osteria Francescana.

When two visionary people get together, Massimo says, with the right energy and synergy, you can really make something special and unique. And that's exactly what these two have done.

There's just one bottle of L'Anima in the world, and I was the first journalist to taste it.

Richard guided me through the different flavors: marmalade, spice, marzipan, crushed almonds and oranges. It was an elaborate experience, unlike any other tasting I've ever done. And the flavors were outrageous.

The bottle of L'Anima is going up for auction with Sotheby's next month to support Massimo's charity Food for Soul, which promotes social awareness of food waste while feeding the hungry.

You can bid from April 25 to May 9. They're hoping to open bidding around $85,000.

Massimo and Richard not only created this amazing whisky, but they also put on a six-course whisky dinner to spread the word about the auction and share their artistry.

As Massimo describes it, they made visible the invisible for people.
