Brooklyn mom vows to catch 'monster' who killed daughter

Family, friends and the Canarsie community gathered on Thursday night at the scene of the crime to remember Brandy Odom. The 26-year-old's dismembered body was found in Canarsie Park in Brooklyn on Monday evening.

A dog walker found Odom's head and naked torso covered in leaves, police said. Her arms and legs were later discovered nearby.

Brandy's mother, Nicole Odom, was visibly distraught as she visited for the first time the site where her daughter's body parts were found.

"Nobody has the right to play god and take a life," Odom said. "It wasn't her time to go yet and it wasn't by her choice."

The community came together in prayer Thursday night. People came with candles, balloons, and flowers. And also many tears.

"We want this crime solved," Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams said. "As long this person is still in the street, our daughters are still in jeopardy."

The NYPD told Fox 5 that the investigation is ongoing and detectives are following up on numerous leads.

While the manhunt continues for the savage who killed Brandy, her mother has vowed not to give up and fight for her justice.

"I'm going to do everything in my power to keep this going until I catch the monster who did this to my child," Odom said.

The NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline is offering $10,000 for any information that helps solve this heinous crime. Also, Adams is offering $1,000 of his own money and community members are putting up another $2,000. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
