Apple accounts hacked; possible China link

Some Apple users are finding their Apple accounts have been hacked and used to send a flood of iMessages. The attack involved sending many spam messages in Chinese to and from the users account to phones.

The hack first popped up in August but has continued to hit accounts this week as Apple says it is working to solve the problem.

The solution that is being suggested by Apple support groups on the internet is to immediately change the password for the Apple ID account and then enable two-factor authentication for your Apple ID.  Using that method requires the user to have two Apple devices to log in, with a code being sent to the second device to confirm that you want to log into the first device.

Mashable first reported on the hack after one of its reporters got a message saying her Apple account had been logged into from another computer.  After she hit OK to the message her phone was flooded with the Spam.

Their report claimed that Apple Support had received calls from "many people" on Wednesday with the problem.
