4 students arrested after pregnant classmate attacked

Police say four Alabama high school students have been arrested after attacking a pregnant classmate in a classroom.

Selma police Lt. Natasha Fowlkes says that three girls and a boy went into the victim's class at Selma High School and attacked her Tuesday morning.  All four suspects were taken into custody and charged with disorderly conducted.

Officials say the victim, who is pregnant, was taken to the hospital. Her condition remains unclear.  The unborn child's condition was not known either.

Police say two teachers who tried to break up the fight were also hit.  Fowlkes says the attack was connected to a dispute from the night before.

Selma School Superintendent Angela Mangum told local media that she was devastated by what happened.
