1 dead, 3 injured, including two children in Queens crash

A 67-year-old man was killed after a multi-car crash in Queens on Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened just after 4 p.m. at 73rd Avenue and 260th Street in Glen Oaks

Police say the victim was just outside of his parked car, unloading groceries when he was struck by an SUV driven by a 39-year-old man.

"From the back it kind of looked like a fender bender but when you actually go closer it’s like a head on crash," one neighbor described.

"Officers said ‘Put your phone away. We need dignity over here, people aren’t notified.’ Then they put the cover on top of the victim," another said.

Police say a 1-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, along with a 65-year-old woman, all pedestrians near the parked vehicles, were struck and taken to the hospital. All are in stable condition.

Neighbors who spoke to FOX 5 NY remembered years of pleasant encounters with the victim and blamed the accident on excessive speeding on their block.

"You hear them all night long. They don’t care if the speed bumps are there they still fly through here," one expressed.

So far, police are waiting to publicly identify the victim as they make family members aware of Tuesday's crash.
