Postal worker hosts Thanksgiving for his community

Miguel Perdomo is a pillar in this East Harlem neighborhood. A letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 29 years, he has been on this route for 16.

Perdomo says he has built relationships with the people he serves and that they trust him. He also says he sees a lot of love in the neighborhood.

What the community lacks in material wealth it makes up for in soul.

Perdomo's routes are like clockwork. And for 10 years now, so are his Thanksgiving meals for those who need it. He says his co-workers and local businesses chip in to help him feed 300 to 400 people on Thanksgiving meals.

Next week will be year 11. They'll have 20-plus turkeys, mac and cheese, candied yams, and more.

If Thanksgiving is really about spreading good will about kindness, I can't think of a better example than Perdomo.

If you need a hot plate on Thanksgiving, come on out to 55 East 110th Street in East Harlem. They'll take care of you.
