Man leaves baby on subway train

A baby in a stroller took a ride by himself on the subway in Manhattan but was later reunited safely with his family.

It happened Tuesday afternoon on a downtown bound 1 train on the Upper West Side.  The NYPD says a 38-year-old man who was a friend of the baby's family was taking care of the little boy.

He had what was described as a medical episode and somehow ended up leaving the baby on the train.

It took 20 minutes for him to report the missing baby to transit police officers.  The baby rode the train eight stops until he was found at the Penn Station stop where he was found and returned to the family.

The man was brought to a police station for questioning but was released without charges being filed.
