Inside NYC's soundstages for major TV shows

Some streets in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, may look quiet and industrial, but you'll find an 85,000-square-foot facility. Inside, it's another world.

"What we do at Broadway Stages, we take these beautiful empty spaces that we call shoe boxes or big empty boxes and we fill them with authentic set design," said Warren Cohn, the spokesperson for Broadway Stages, a production company that started in New York in 1983.

Cohn walked Fox 5 set-by-set through one of the largest film and sound stages on the East Coast. We had the chance to see all the details that go into making each set feel so real. Madam Secretary, The Blacklist, Blindspot, Billions, and Blue Bloods are just some of the shows filmed here.

Cohn sees the film and production industry growing in New York. He said his company always tries to be considerate of its neighbors.

"We know a lot of TV and production is happening on the Brooklyn Bridge, in Midtown Manhattan, on the Upper East Side and Chelsea," he said. "We're trying to create opportunities that allow for amazing sound stages and full-service facilities, as well as having off-street parking with trailers and trucks so that we don't interrupt and bother the neighborhood so much when we're filming."

Broadway Stages facilities are located in parts of Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island.
