Elegant cocktail bar hidden inside ice cream shop in Manhattan

If you're observant, you'll notice a lot more going on behind the scenes at a new ice cream shop on Second Avenue on the Upper East Side.

If you know the right code, you'll be led from the colorful ice cream shop to a dimly lit speakeasy called Storage. You'll find a bar that goes up to the ceiling, pictures of famous celebs on the walls, and a drink menu inside of a guide book.

"They pull back that curtain and they realize that the entire environment, the vibe, the music is different and they are transcended into a different era," said Cortney Bond, the owner of UES.

Bond says it was her dream to bring something special to the neighborhood where her family's roots are.

"I knew that the Upper East Side deserved a smart cocktail bar, a fun cocktail bar," Bond said. "These types of concepts are not just reserved for Downtown or Meatpacking. We're hip and trendy up here, too."

The business opened in November and its popularity grows by the day. Maybe it's because of the concept, or the ice cream, or the creative drinks.

The Second Avenue Subway cocktail comes with a MetroCard that actually has money on it and can be used.

"The Second Avenue Subway, which I created to pay homage to that Second Avenue subway that we waited so long for," Bond said.
